Class/Rehearsal Facilities

MI's instrument and vocal programs are housed in dual-use facilities that function as classrooms during the day and student rehearsal rooms during evenings and weekends. Most are equipped with Fender guitar, bass and keyboard amps, drum kits, Carvin PA, audio playback systems and dry erase boards. In addition to 8 general-use classrooms on the third floor, one on the second floor, and three in the Highland Annex, certain rooms are customized to fit the needs of specific programs:

Vocal Classroom 240
In addition to amps, keyboards, PA and drum kit, this 35-student-capacity classroom features stage lighting and a 7'x 20' mirror for practicing stage technique.

Keyboard Classrooms 245 & 260
The Keyboard Program's teaching/practice facilities include the main classroom (CL245) with 25 keyboard stations and a second classroom (CL260) containing nine keyboard/piano stations. Both rooms are also available for keyboard practice when classes are not scheduled.

Drum Classrooms 370, 375, & 380
These Drum program class/rehearsal rooms are equipped with customized padded tables for group drum exercises.

General Purpose Classrooms
MI has thirteen general purpose classrooms, three of which include customized padded tables for drum sessions and a 900 square foot rehearsal space complete with a dance floor and full-length mirror for practicing stage technique.
