Musicians Institute: MI and Schecter Guitar Research Offer Two New Scholarships for Up and Coming Rock Guitarists!
The Awards Are Named For Rock Guitar Giants Synyster Gates of Avenged Sevenfold And Jerry Horton of Papa Roach

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Musicians Institute (www.mi.edu) and Schecter Guitar Research are proud to announce two new scholarships designed to support the education of talented up-and-coming rock guitarists.

The scholarships are named for two of the brightest stars in the contemporary rock guitar genre: Synyster Gates of Avenged Sevenfold (also a GIT graduate) and Jerry Horton of Papa Roach.

Each fall, students entering MI’s Associate of Arts in Performance (Guitar) program will have the opportunity to apply for the scholarships, which include both a tuition award and a new Schecter instrument. The tuition credit has a monetary value of $2,500, or $1,250 per quarter for the first two quarters of the program as long as the recipient maintains satisfactory progress.

The Synyster Gates Scholarship will go to a student who demonstrates a high level of musicianship within the heavy rock and metal genre, while the Jerry Horton Scholarship will be awarded based on outstanding originality and band performance skills in the rock genre.

Applicants for the Fall 2009 class (both U.S. and non-U.S. citizens) who wish to be considered must submit their applications no later than September 15, 2009.

For more information and instructions on how to apply, please contact an MI Admissions Representative or visit: www.mi.edu/FinancialAid.aspx.
